The two companies will also work together to create advertising opportunities that are seamless and enhance user experience.

As I’ve said before, companies are all about people. Getting to know the Tumblr team has been really amazing. I’ve long held the view that in all things art and design, you can feel the spirit and demeanor of those who create them. That’s why it was no surprise to me that David Karp is one of the nicest, most empathetic people I’ve ever met. He’s also one of the most perceptive, capable entrepreneurs I’ve worked with. His respect for Tumblr’s community of creators is awesome, and I’m absolutely delighted to have him and his entire team join Yahoo!.

I’m glad that you enjoyed reading it! I spent a lot of time thinking about how to write it. The Office has always meant a lot to me and I wanted to make sure that I got everything right.

I don’t understand the incredible opposition to Yahoo buying tumblr.

You realize that tumblr makes NO money, right? It will be shut down if someone doesn’t buy it and monetize it.

Seriously, websites don’t just run for free and tumblr has no money.

There’s no reason to think that Yahoo will ruin the service. They’ve been on a climb since their new CEO took over.

What The Office Means to Me

Tonight, I watched the series finale of The Office and it was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever been fortunate enough to witness.

I sound crazy. I know that. Just hear me out.

It’s not a secret how powerful the written word can be. It can start wars and end them. It can reconnect lost souls. It can put a stapler in a platter of jello. The subject always varies, but the importance is very subjective.

The Office is more than just a television show to me. Even in the last ten years as traditional television has begun to fade, audiences dwindle, and quality has often been ignored, The Office has stood out to me in ways that nothing else has.

When the show premiered I was 14 years old. Now that it is over, I’m 22. The Office was a consistent thing for me throughout those very formative teenage years.

It was there when I started driving.

It was there when I graduated high school.

It was there when I started college.

It was there when I began seriously write my own screenplays.

And now, we are parting ways just as I’m about to finish college.

I have strong, lasting friendships that started over a common interest in The Office. My friends and I concocted a miniseries in high school inspired by the show. I literally owe several friendships to the show.

If I could ever give someone a Jim and Pam to believe in. If I could them a Michael Scott to be embarrassed for or a Meredith to be disgusted by…well, that would mean the world to me in the silliest and most serious way ever.

I want do for others, what this show has done for me. That’s what The Office means to me.
